Hey world heyyyy!
Feels like I was just here writing you what's going on. I guess time really is starting to fly:/
-To start it off. When Trujillo first got here, we made a list of all
the things I wanted to do/see/accomplish before ending. Last
Monday we were extra productive and marked a few of those off. Chinatown in the morning. City in the early afternoon. Little Mexican
Village with Hna Kenedy and Ramirez. And then back to our area to do
some thrift shopping. Lesson(s) to be learned from this? 1. Chicago
has got to be one of the coolest cities ever, and 2. Public
transportation used wisely is THE best thing ever.
-Tuesday. Trujillo surprised me with pancakes and "lechera" (sweetened condensed milk), in bed. What a dream. This girl is the best. Unfortunately, the little Peruvian family in the ward had to
throw off our groove and make us "cow cow"...not sure how they spell
it, but that's how it's pronounced. It was basically curry/menudo. We
both almost died. Trujillo threw it up afterwards...and she's the
native that likes normal menudo. Haha the curry menudo easily places
as the second worst thing I've eaten. Of course, had to end the night
with elote. It heals all wounds.
Hahaha, I'm reading over my journal from the last week. Real talk.
Random stuff.
-Had my last interview with president...well, not the last last one.
You know, the dying one. But the one before. That was chill. We
reminisced on when I was still a greeny. Training. And really scared.
It was ....nice.
-Jose told us how much he liked church and wants to keep going.
Beforehand. We thought he was gonna drop us. Homeboy gives off a lot
of mixed messages.
-Went to meet an investigator at the Mexican ice cream shop. Got stood
up. Ended up buying an Oreo ice cream popsicle, so that it didn't look
like we were just bumming off their wifi. New addiction right there.
Who knew it could be so good!
-Helped the other Hermanas set up for their wedding/baptism on
Saturday. Nuts. But surprisingly went smoothly.
-ALL OF OUR FAVORITE PEOPLE CAME TO CHURCH YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!! Three
people that we've been working with that have been inactive for
YEARS! Seriously. So so so happy that they came. And remember that inactive guy and his two grandsons that we've been teaching? They came
too!. Melvin and Benji looked all dapper in their button up shirts and
all. We showed them around the church and they loved it! They
recognized all of the pictures that are in the pamphlets we gave them.
Their favorite one though? The picture of the second coming, with
Christ and all the angels round about. Ah. They just melt my heart.
Mmm. I feel as if the rest of the week can be summed up nicely with
the use of my handy dandy album of selfies.
