....BEST WEEK EVAAAAA!!!
Okay, so maybe not ever...but it was crazy good! Miracles left and right.
First. There's a less active that I've been working with since my
first transfer here. She's come to church twice randomly. I won't go
into details, but the point is that she went thru the temple years ago
and hasn't been since who knows when. The only reason why we know this
is because we saw her membership record when we got it switched from
the English ward to our ward a few months back. Anyway. Tuesday. We
were planning on teaching her about tithing, but were very much
directed to not do so, but rather, just listen. Very direct prompting
for sure. So we asked what had been going on, what she had been
studying, etc., and then listened. She had been studying about
prayer...she even showed us a Mormon message she watched about it! The
conversation somehow led us to Alma 34, what I had studied that
morning. Awesome chapter about prayer! That then led to vs. 32 ...
"For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God;
yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their
labors.". After which, la Hermana broke down and pretty much put it
all on the table for us. We're going to make some goals and get her
back to the temple! .........Gah. I just reread all that. Haha. I wish
all ya'll could know these people. Doesn't sound half as good in
writing. The read deal is much better.

Second miracle. ALEJANDRA IS GETTING BAPTIZED ON WEDNESDAYYYY!!!! Ah.
I'm dying over this one. Ive mentioned her before, but I'll remind
y'all real quick. Her mom was born into the church, but was just
recently reactivated. Her dad and older sister are not members...and
the 3 of them, dad/daughter/and Alejandra have been taught for years.
Geeze, Alejandra and her dad have been coming to church regularly for
a long time. Practically members. We've invited them to be baptized
how many times?.....and nothing. Finally. We were eating dinner with
them on Tuesday night, and Alejandra just casually drops it that she
made the goal to get baptized while Hermana Ramirez and I are still
here.....WHATTTTT!? Out of nowhere. Seriously. Worked out perfectly.
This is the last week of the transfer (there's a chance that one of us
will go) and her 21st birthday is Wednesday......so it's happening on
Wednesday! Words can't describe the emotions we felt when she told
us....nor the loud pitch scream we let out simultaneously when we got
in the car.

All in all. Good week. Both the miracle moments were on Tuesday. With
the killer bipolar weather though, I got a gnarly cold on Wednesday.
Felt like dying Wednesday and Thursday. Ramirez got it and almost died
Friday. Locked our keys out of the house that night. Car keys
included. Had our stake relief society service day...is that normal?
We did gardening in a community garden down in the hood. Had a blast!
Have never had so much fun digging up weeds. Wish I had a picture of
before and after...believe I would have made Lorie proud :) Hermana
Pearson even found a squirrel tail in the garden. Annnndddd to end the
week, we went to a members kids birthday party for a minute. The 10yr
old or so kid was feeling lucky, went in for what I thought was a
harmless hug, and then kissed me. #mostawkwardmomentofthelast15months.

One more miracle! Wednesday morning during our studies, Jazmin, the
neighbor, texted us and told us to come downstairs to meet her mom. We
run down. Meet her. Obviously she loves us enough to invite us over
for dinner here in the near future..and in the midst of it, Jazmin
tells her, 'Mom, the Hermanas spread the word of God and the Book of
Mormon....they've already started teaching me...they're going to teach
you too...and that's what they're doing when they come
over.'......"okay, that's fine!..." Yes. We're in. Haha.

Hopefully things are starting to warm up for y'all!
Don't forget to write your favorite Chicago, Illinois Hermana!
Go Blackhawks!

Much love,
Hermana Mortensen

Service project,
My child with a squirrel tail.
It's a little hard to read, but it's the newest, bestest billboard. It
says 'nonstop flights to Albuquerque...fly to sunshine'. Hahah.
