May 26, 2014 - Franklin Park, IL

Hey hey everybody!
Hands down one of the crazier weeks in the mission...andddd I'm going
to try and make this rapidito because I don't have much time!
First off. ALEJANDRA WAS BAPTIZED OM WEDNESDAY AND IT WAS AWESOME! We asked her mom, who was just recently reactivated, to give a talk....we
may have had to write it for her, but she gave a rockin, heart felt
testimony afterwards! And the non member sister that we've been
teaching this whole time? Welp. She told me after the service that she
wants to meet with the bishop to work things out in her life so that
we can start coming back to church! Andddd she confirmed Sunday that
she wants to get baptized before I go home. HOLLAAA! Serious. Huge
miracle right there.
Sooo yeah. Baptism was rocking. President Woodbury came. 'After party'
was good. Food was better.
Spent all Thursday morning doing service for a less active.....we cut
vegetables for the huge veggie salad she had to make for her daughters
baby shower the following day. Woof.
Friday was the baby shower. Never have I seen so many people fit into
the relief society room (still confused on why we had it in there) and
eat.
Saturday morning. The other Hermanas, who live like 5minutes away, had
locked their house keys in the house along with their phone...and came
over to our place because they didn't know what else to do. They had
just happened to have done service and were in sweats. They tried to
do some service in their area....EVERYONE was gone. Soooo, they came
with us to help clean an Hermanas garage. 1. We stumbled upon her sons
bike collection and figured we'd A.take them for a spin and B.take
some glamour shots #hot. 2. Finished all of the cleaning with the best
dance party that's ever been had with a 70something year old. Let's
just say that 15months of bottled up dance emotions is NOT healthy. I
actually threw out my back #whoistheoldonenow? I'm attaching a photo
of this Hermana. Hands down one of the funniest, craziest ones I've
met out here. I went over yesterday to say goodbye and she said she
had gotten all ready because she needed to look 'bieeeennnnn sexy' for
the photos. Hahaha....sighhh....okay, Hermana.
Later that night, got the call. IM GETTING TRANSFERRED! I was thinking
that President would just give me 3more months here. Nope. I'm off to
Chicago 5th. That doesn't mean much to you all. But this stake/zone is
pretty coveted. Haley. I will now be able to visit the Home Alone
house :) woot woot! Get this. I'll be with Hermana Madsen. She's
'dying' in 6 weeks, meaning I'm killing her...that's a first. We've
wanted to be together for quite some time now, so this'll be fun! Oh.
And no car. No bike. Pure feet with a lil public transportation. In
fact. We don't even live in our area, so we have to take the L-train
everyday....or so I hear. I'm convinced this is Presidents thoughtful
way of getting his old, about-to-die Hermanas to lose some weight.
Haha. Sighhhh, yeahhhhh, thanks President?.
Welp. Hope everyone enjoys their Memorial Day!

Much love,
Hermana Mortensen

Oh. One more. We went to the kindergarten graduation of the son,
Chris, of one of our less actives. This is the kid that can't say
Hermana, so when we told him sister, he called us Mr. Sooo, I'm
Mr.M...we had Mr.P (Pearson) and now there's Mr.R, Ramirez. Anyway.
After the he graduation, we had to take some pictures of Chris with
his teacher. After which she asked us if we were his sisters that he's
always talking about. Yup. He tells everyone we're his sisters.
Sooooooo cute!

 We like to match
Cutest kindergarten graduation!
Hermana Mansfield, Hatch, Ramirez and I. Bike Gang.
Alejandra and her family! We're working with her sister (far left) and dad.

Hermana Gonzales and her daughter, Nelly. Two of my favorite El
Salvadorians. I hate how abnormally huge they make me look. First time
I met her, she was legitimately afraid that I my hair was going to get
chopped by the ceiling fan.

Sooooooo cute! Love this little lady.
