March 31, 2014 - Franklin Park, IL

Hey hey!
What an awesome week it's been...filled with sunshine, a little rain,
and WARM WEATHER. Nothing like 40 degree weather.
Once again we had a really fast paced, awesome week full of little
miracles left and right. First off. Two weeks ago we were eating with
one of our usual member families.(Mind you, getting referrals out of
members has always been hard for me...and it doesn't help when you
have a SMALL pool of, ehhh 4 or 5 families in your area..."do you know
anyone who could......"... "....no Hermanas, we didn't meet anyone new
since we fed you a few days ago...."--it usually goes something like
that.). And we really wanted to try something new with this family to
get them to help us. Soooo, we explained to them that we were all
going to pray together, and at the end of the prayer, we would show
them a map of our area. They would then choose a street for us to
knock- and based on their faith, we'd find someone that has been
prepared for us.  Sure enough, they tell us where one of their
non-member friends lives, plus the street they wanted us to knock.
Score. This is the good part. A few days later we knocked it. It was
late at night, kinda sorta sketchy area...and we're walking back to
our car- when we see this little old lady walking. I was on the phone
talking with someone, but Hermana Ramirez immediately stops her and
starts talking. Come to find out she lives in the house right down the
street....the same house as a less active member I've been trying to
get in with for a long time..... (it's really common here to find
houses that are subdivided into 3-4 mini apartments).... She also
happens to be his non-member mother. DOUBLE SCORE. She gave us his
info/work schedule, the address for the apartment she's at all day
babysitting, and an invitation to go visit them. We stop by Friday
night at the other apartment, taught her. Stopped by Saturday morning
at his house, met him, and taught them both. HOLLA! He was baptized
almost 8 years ago, and hasn't been to the church in about 9 months. The
missionaries stopped visiting about a year ago- when they switched the
area from elders to sisters. He just kinda fell thru the crack, I
guess. Point is, they were both thrilled to see us- and were
practically begging us to come back next week for breakfast. WE'RE IN.
One less active. And one new investigator. All going back to the
family that prayed to know where to send us to knock. We're eating
with this family tonight- can't wait to tell them what happened!

Haha. One more quick story. H.Ramirez had an eye appointment this
week. She's in with the doctor, and I'm waiting in the lobby...feeling
half guilty for not having anything productive to do...when Michael
walks in. For all of you that have seen Mr. Deeds, Michael reminds of
the crazy eyed guy, plus a ponytail. So he walks in, and of all the
chairs in the room- decides to sit rightttttt next to me. I'm
thinking, just my luck. I said a quick little prayer that the man
would start talking to me, because there was no way I could start it
with him. IMMEDIATELY after, he starts talking to me. Tender mercy in
itself. He asks about my iPad and what games I play on it. I took that
as my opportunity to tell him that I don't have any games because I'm
a missionary. Come to find out, he knows all about us because he
listens to Glen Beck...,that's his name, right?  THEN out of nowhere,
he starts telling me about an angel that appeared to him a little
while back, and how he was kinda sorta transfigured. It was so weird.
He also told me that the government is trying to 'hack' into our
spirits, but the angel told him not to be afraid...they won't be able
to. He was also able to see into my 'spirit eyes'. Not my 'flesh
eyes', but spiritual eyes. Ohhhhh Micheal. He's only told the angel
part to some Paster and one or two other people....he said he felt
prompted to share that with me, and he was so thankful that I
listened. Eh. I got his information. Maybe the English elders will be
able to help him :)

This has once again turned into a novel. Sorry kiddies!
Love you all!
Hermana Mortensen

Hope all you ladies enjoyed the Women's broadcast...wasn't it
awesome?! And that ALL of you are ready for General Conference this
week!
DyC 1:38.. What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse
not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word
shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, WHETHER BY MINE OWN
VOICE OR BY THE VOICE OF MY SERVANTS, IT IS THE SAME.      Don't
forget who's really talking and teaching!
