March 3, 2014 - Franklin Park, IL

MIRACLES HAPPEN, PEOPLE!!! Hermana Pearson and I had SUCH a rockin
week. I could go on and on, but I'll stick with just telling you about
Eduardo. Soooo. Let me back up. Two weeks ago when we met with him, he
was talking about how he's been fasting. Mind you, he hasn't come to
church this whole time we've been with him. Nearly 4 months. He owns a
jewelry store and only happens to work Saturdays and Sundays. All day.
The last 3 weeks or so, we've been teaching about the sabbath day,
only trying to get him to church. He's basically a 7th Day Adventist
in denial....sabbath day is Saturday, blah blah. Anyway. Two weeks
ago. He invited us to fast with him so that he'd be able to get his
answer about the sabbath day--strength in numbers, right? Obviously we
agreed. Friday rolls around and we're fasting. In it to win it, of
course. He texts us to tell us that he wasn't feeling well and that
he'd have to see us on Tuesday, as in tomorrow, to say goodbye (we
knew one of us was getting transferred). We responded that Friday was
the only day and we HAD to both see him. His reply? Hermana. Estoy en
camino...sisters, I'm on my way!! Haha. So we meet at our usual booth
in McDonalds. Poor guy opens up immediately and tells us that one of
his best friends had died early that week, and that he hadn't told
anyone...'because it's embarrassing for a grown male to cry'. So
obviously we had our little moment in McDonalds. Hermana Pearson had
slyly turned the conversation into coming to church and how we can
find love and support and more importantly, ANSWERS to our deepest
questions. The whole time I'm just sitting there thinking, when he
asks me what I have to say. He can always tell when I have something
good to say. We have an awesome relationship like that. What do I tell
him? He's been doing such an AWESOME job with reading, praying and
fasting...and I compared it to him drinking from a 'big gulp'...the
man likes visuals....with three little straws. Obviously it's good,
and he's getting it...but he's missing such a huge straw....GOING TO
CHURCH!! I generally don't teach this, but I told him that if he had
to go to work after sacrament meeting, so be it. Just come to one hour
at least. And really, God has blessed him so much for making the HUGE
changes in his life already- why limit yourself to that? Bless his
little heart. He sat for a minute, and said that he literally feels
sick going to work every Sunday, and he doesn't want to go anymore.
Without anything more said on our end, he told us that he's committed
to come to church next week, white shirt and tie. He said he'd fix
everything at work (yesterday) so that he'd be able to come next week.
And not just find someone to keep the shop open for him. No, he's
closing all day. Haha, I remember at the beginning of my mission,
being afraid to promise people very specific things- big things
especially. But feeling confident in the prompting to promise him
sufficient business a different day or in a different way and then
have him agree completely with, 'I know it will happen'. Ah. Nothing
like it. Such faith on his part. Point is. We fasted for a miracle. He
had a complete change of heart. And we're one step closer to baptism
and bigger things.  McDonalds has never seen such a thing.

Did service for one of our slightly 'cold' members. She opened right up.

Brought a member to visit one of our less actives. She's been once the
whole time I've been here. Moved to the U.S of A like 6 or 7 months
ago. Doesn't know a soul here besides us and her husband. Rockin. Sit
down, first thing out of the active members mouth, 'why don't you come
to church?'. She didn't come yesterday. But it's happening. And her
husband is getting baptized.

Wednesday. Pearson and I ate at the local Hibachi grill Buffett. It
only makes sense that all of the employees  are Mexican. Soooo, I
start talking to him in Spanish. White girl speaking whaaaaa? Needless
to say, we're going to start teaching him.
Immediately after this, we went to the library for our daily Facebook
time. Nice man sitting next to me asks what business I work for,
looking at the name tag. Got to talking. Solid referral for the
English sisters.

Sorry. This turned into  a novel. Hard not to share all the goodness
though :) Alma 26:11-16 #classic

Love you alllllll!!!!
