March 17, 2014 Franklin Park, IL

Hey hey hey!
I've got a good story!
Remember when I had a companion for 2 days and was left in a trio with
the other Hermanas here (it was NUTS by the way)? Well, last Tuesday
(the 11th) I fb messaged my girl, Hermana Ramirez....she was serving
in the other area  here with me during my first transfer in
Westchester back in November, but she went home for medical reasons.
She's been gone for almost 5 months now, and everyone thought she
wasn't coming back. Wellllll...I messaged her on Tuesday telling her
that I needed her to come back and be my companion, she called
President, and now she's my companion!!!!! Haha. Again, it's been a
wild 7 days. She called President on Tuesday, he worked things out
with her stake president on Wednesday, called SLC on Thursday, and had
her flown in on Friday. He couldn't pick her up himself, so he let me
go to O'Hare with Hermana Izu and Mansfield. I'm pretty much a boss at
dropping off/picking up at O'Hare airport now. Crazy part is that she
had already packed her stuff last Sunday because she felt ready to go-
and when she called President, he stated that it was the answer to his
prayer because he's been freaking out as to who to put with me! Nuts.
I prayed for a companion, and he flew her to me straight from Vegas.
Done.
One more thing before I end this. The last week or so, The Plan of
Salvation, more specifically what happens after death, has been a
reoccurring theme..,,something that's really been on my mind. I
mentioned last week about the ward member that was killed. I doubt it
made national news--but obviously it was all over the news here, or so
I heard. This Hermana was at her job, folding clothes at the thrift
store, when a gun fell out of an article of clothing, went off, and
killed her. Seriously so sad. As you can imagine, everyone was still a
little shaken up at the service on Thursday and again on Sunday. The
talks/lessons from yesterday were all centered on the Plan of
Salvation. As hard as it is to cope with death and losing a loved one;
what a great blessing it is to know that it doesn't end after death.
We were talking about this with a member family, and we talked about
the differences (usually) between a funeral service of a member, and a
service in a different church. Just like how we don't focus on
Christ's death, but rather His resurrection (obviously still saddened
and respectful of his crucifixion, just not focused complete on it)
.... We should remember the joyous news of the plan of salvation and
resurrection.  I know that just as Christ was resurrected, we too will
have that opportunity..,and that we will be able to live once again
with our family and loved ones!

God loves you. Don't forget it.

Haha,  and Hermana Mortensen loves you too!

Izu on the left and little Ramirez in the middle. The two of us make
quite the team.

....and just incase no one has noticed, I got my hair cut last week.
Last time I let someone who doesn't know English cut my hair. Haha.
