February 10, 2014 Franklin Park, IL

Hello hellooooo!
What a random week filled with its usual highs and lows! Looking back,
I can't help but chuckle a little. Here we go.
Tuesday. Hermana Salgado, the slightly crazy, less active grandma of
the 5 children we teach, informed us that her 35-40yr old son got
deported, and therefore, she HAS to go to Mexico to take care of him.
She has no papers, soooo she won't be coming back. Also. Her two
daughters, the mothers of the children, don't want us coming back.
Wednesday. We had a mini blizzard, and weren't allowed to leave the
house. The two districts in our zone got on one HUGE conference call
for combined district meeting. Hymns and all included.
Thursday. Sisters conference! All 100 or so sisters in the mission got
together to learn about Christ, how to lose weight, and how to escape
from a choke hold. Break the wrist, walk away. Think anyone wants a
roundhouse kick to the face in these bad boys? Forget about it!!!
Friday. Edwardo is back on track! Gosh I love this man. He studied
about fasting the few days before we met, and gave it a try on
Thursday. He lasted 5 hours, and he was SO proud of himself. Also. He
loves to talk about how much he's changed and how much better he feels
since he started listening to us. Most of what he said sounded like it
came straight out of the Book of Mormon.,..for example, he can't
remember his past/sins anymore and he feels like 'la carga', load, on
his shoulders has been lifted. Pretty much quoted all of Alma 36.
Also. He told us he only study's on lds.org, compared to other
religious websites....why? Because it's all the truth. He was like,
'you two have been telling the truth the whole time! Uhhh. Yes
Edwardo, we have been telling you the truth the whole time.
Saturday. EVERYONE cancelled...except for one of my favorite little
families that always feeds us breakfast in the morning. Papas, huevos,
y chorizo....and 'mush'. Yes, she called it that. I believe she was
pretty impressed when I told her my mommy made that for me on the
daily, AND called it the same weird thing. They also out planned out
their road trip to New Mexico to come visit me. Lorie, hope you don't
mind a house full of lovely Guatemalans for a few days...or weeks.
Haha. Sigh....
Sunday. Came home to killer ice outside our front door. The ice had
actually sealed the door shut so we had to go thru the other side,
just to find a partly flooded kitchen. Unfortunately, the landlord
said 'there's nothing he can do about it'....so I took matters into my
own hands. I should win a prize for being so creative. I used
industrial ducktape to seal the top of the door frame, so it would
funnel right on down into the dust pan and fall into the bucket
#likeaBOSS.
As for the pictures:
Spent all Saturday knocking trying to find old investigators and
members that don't actually exist. That's what my poor foot looked
like at the end, I tell people my fingers and toes turn white, and
they say, but you're already white. Surprise people!
