February 3, 2014 - Franklin Park, IL

The last few weeks have been more eventful than usual, so I guess it
was due time for a slower week. Like I mentioned last time, we spent
most of Monday in the emergency room for little Hermana Pearson. No
worries, it was just the flu. She stayed inside though. ALL WEEK.
Luckily for me, the other Hermanas came to the rescue and did
rotations with me. I developed a bad case of 'cabin fever' by about
Tuesday afternoon. If there's one thing to make you appreciate the
work and being a busy, working missionary....it's being a
stuck-in-home-missionary #soboring. My best idea was to have Hermana
Pearson sit by the window and watch me shovel snow outside our house
#Onlywaytostaysane.
With all of that being said....this week truly was uneventful. Haha.
But here are a few highlights for kicks and giggles.
--Little 9yr old investigator praying that the ground hog won't see
his shadow...we've already had too much winter.

--Met and taught a family in the other Hermanas area. The mom made us
fresh bread comparable to Lorie's bread. Nuff' said. #Mannafromheaven

--Taught Adrian about temples and baptisms for the dead. Planning on
getting him to the temple sometime this month :)

--Ate Chinese food at both our eating appointments on Saturday. I hope
to never see Chinese food again #WheredaMexicanfoodat?

--President and Sister Woodbury had us over for dinner last night
(they made us 'enchiladas'...also reminded me of something Lorie would
cook up. (Bell peppers, corn, and cheddar cheese...three things a
normal Hispanic wouldn't use in enchiladas) He asked me to bless the
food. Probably the most confusing prayer I've ever said in English.
Half translating from Spanish in my head to English coming out...so
hard.

Yup. That's my week in a nutshell.
Butttttt.....with ALL the time I had to study and ponder this week, I
decided to start reading El Libro de Mormon again. For anyone keeping
track here, I have the goal now to finish el Nuevo Testamento, The
Book of Mormon, and El Libro de Mormon, all by general conference in
April. I'm pumped for it though. I've been studying the bible just to
study and familiarize myself with it. But I'm reading the BOM, with
emphasis on the references/names to Christ and also His
Atonement....and then the LDM, focusing on the love of Heavenly Father
and Jesus Christ. It's obviously a lot of reading, but I feel that
I've already learned so much. Go. Read. Enjoy.

Have a great week!
Love, Hermana Mortensen
