December 9, 2013 - Franklin Park, IL

First thing y'all should know. When it snows here...people plow it. It's a pretty neat concept.

Ha, it's been a chilly, but awesome week here! We got transfer calls on Saturday-- Hermana Pearson, and I will be staying together for another 6 weeks--and Hermana Izu (we've been in a trio with her for the past 2 weeks or so) will be going back to her original area and train someone new. It'll be good though. I'm mostly just excited to focus completely on our area, and not have to split our time on Hermana Izu's area.

I'll try and make this quick though.
Highlights.
Teaching Edwardo Word of Wisdom on Tuesday. Ha, when we followed up on Friday....he informed us that his "1GB of memory" now is focused on how he needs to "eat in the kingdom". Bless this man's heart. He cut up the whole pamphlet, you know the one with the cheesy pictures of the Hispanic family eating a healthy dinner that NO one would actually eat. Yes. He cut that up, framed it, and placed it in his kitchen. How to eat in the kingdom. Pretty important stuff.

Saturday. We visited one of our investigators. Very Catholic lady. Anyway, we were downstairs in her basement, helping her move around the furniture, right? Well. She left us for a few minutes to grab something--and what happened? The little one knocked over her Crucifix and broke Jesus. Let's just say she was NOT happy when she returned. We all ended up just laughing when I told her that's what happens when you leave the Mormon Missionaries alone for a few minutes. Crucifix's just break.

One of our member has a pet pigeon. Don't remember the name. Didn't think people had them as pets. I held him for a minute, without squealing. I think he could sense that I was scared outta my mind.
Highlight though. Not sure if I've written about this family, la familia Hudson. Wife was born a member, inactive for most of her life, and just recently came back. We've been teaching the husband though--he's been taught for a few good months now. Anyway, we put him on date last night :) January 25, baby. Woo-hoo!     ....now just for Eduardo :)

Yes, I think this is it :) It's been good though. We've started singing Christmas songs to our investigators/members. They seem to like it :)
This is a wonderful time of year though- and I hope all of you are enjoying it and recognize the 'why' behind the season.

Love you all!!
Hermana Mortensen

We've been working on this Plan of Salvation board game for the last 2 or 3 weeks.  These are the little Salgado kids. LOVE THEM! And they loved the game. I asked what we could change to make it better....mmm, they want more planets on the game, specifically Saturn...and shoots and ladders on the little squares that go thru the earth. Bless their hearts.
