November 25, 2013 - Franklin Park, IL

Hey hey hey! What an awesome week! It's been a crazy one, that's for sure.

First off. We finally were able to contact and teach a referral that we received a few weeks ago from different missionaries here. His name is Eduardo, and he's a total gem! We taught him last Monday and again on Friday. Love me some twice a week, investigators. We gave him the pamphlet on the Restoration to read and also 3 Nefi 27 (he asked about baptism and wanted to know more about it). When we met him again on Friday, not only had he    read everything...multiple times...but he looked up more info on Joseph Smith on lds.org. Maybe I've just had bad luck, or maybe it's the people here in Chicago...but of all the people I've taught...no one has ever shown such a real interest to learn more. Ah. He's the best. Random side note...after reading the first vision with him, he said that he felt the same way as Joseph Smith...and no, Heavenly Father and Christ didn't appear to him, but that Hermana Pearson and I were his angels. Really, it's such a miracle that he fell into our laps like this :)

Taught this part member family for the first time this week. The grandma was baptized a few years ago...we visit her once a week and read to her from the Book of Mormon. And then we teach her 4 grandchildren on a separate visit. 3 girls and 1 boy...ages probably from 8-12. Gosh I love these kids! We taught about the wise man who built upon the rock (3 Nefi 14)...and brought rocks from the local train tracks and wrote 'Jesus' on them...you know, as a little reminder to build on Christ. Let's just say it melted my heart when little Alex prayed at the end asking if 'the sisters' would come everyday...and that his dad would get outta prison soon. Have I ever mentioned how much I love this job?

It's been a bumpy road, it always is. But I love this. More than anything, I'm thankful for my loving Heavenly Father, my Savior Jesus Christ, the beautiful Hispanic people of Chicago, and the opportunity to share this message with them. I love you all so much!
