November 18, 2013 - Franklin Park, IL

Gotta make this quick!!
Two quick experiences I wanna share.

First. Due to the fact that we're currently sharing a car with the other Hermanas- Hma Pearson and I found ourselves walking to the closest library for our afternoon Facebook time. We did our hour, and little one wanted to stay just a bit longer, but I felt impressed to leave. So what happened? On our walk home, we ran into this man named Jonathan and his friend, whose name I don't recall (not to pass judgments, but Jonathan's a white, gothic kid). He actually stopped us and asked if we're sisters...which is normal...Hma Pearson and I have been asked that a few times now. I responded no, but that we were missionaries. He laughed and said that that's what he meant. Turns out he's a less active member and is in Chicago because he's a part of the Barnum and Bailey Circus. Guess it's a big thing? Point is, they've been here for almost 3 weeks- and he had literally told his friend/fellow circus mate that he wanted to find the church and go this week...and then they just happened to find us in their way. Cool right? Oh yes, passed them off to the English sisters so they could find him and his friend a ride. I'm happy to report that they were both at church yesterday :)

Remember Hma Chapman? They lady I mentioned last week who entered the Navy boot camp on Tuesday? Well, we met her mom last week (who she was living with...and who happens to be VERY Catholic), and gave her a card with our information and told her that if she needed anything, that we'd be more than willing to help. People NEVER take us up on service opportunities. But Hma Chapman called us, on her way to be dropped off, and asked if we'd come over and help her mom on Saturday (3 days ago). Best thing ever! This lady is a gem. As you can imagine, she's pretty lonely..seeing that her daughter just left and they have next to no communication. Really though, I can't even describe what happened. She completely opened up to us. We ended up helping her clean out some of her closets, with clothes and other items to donate to some of our ward members. Gosh, i could go on and on about this lady... but I won't.

That pretty much sums up our week, right there. It's been awesome! Hermana Pearson and I have been working hard, and we've seen the blessings come #doesn'tgetbetterthanthat.

LOVE YOU ALL !!!!
Hma Mortensen

Sunday Best! Pearson, Izu, Ramirez y yo
