April 21, 2014 Franklin Park, IL
Hello hello hello!
Quick week! Hermana Ramirez got food poisoning, which is weird seeing
that we eat the same things, so we spent a decent amount
inside...which is a shame seeing that it's been PERFECT outside.
Miracle in itself. She's all good now though. Yes, we may have spent a
lot of time inside...but we were sure not to miss one eating
appointment #homegirlhastoeat. She did so like a champ.
Speaking of eating. I'd like to show you a new personal favorite.
Supposedly, it's a classic Guatemalan dish. It's called a mixta.
Tortilla. Mayo. Avocado. HOTDOG. Cabbage and lime. As gross as it
sounds, it was pretty rockin.
On to more important things. Hermana Ramirez and I have really been
struggling to find new people to teach...solid people. We fasted last
week though that we'd find some new people. Talk about people coming
out of the woodworks!! Lucia, the neighbor of one of our less actives
that we've casually taught once or twice, finally sat down and let us
get into it. AWESOME!. She told us on Tuesday that she already knows
it's true, she committed herself to come to church this Sunday, and
she told us she's going to sit her husband down and have him hear us
out too. Solid.
One of the single adults who lives in our area wants us to teach his
sister and her family, who he lives with. Also solid.
It's just been a good week. To answer your questions regarding my
Easter....when the Mexicans told me they really don't celebrate/do
anything special, they really meant it. No bunnies. No eggs. Not that
they didn't hAve those things to help focus on the true meaning of
Easter, they just don't do any of it. Haha. I hope ALL of you saw the
things the Church put out for Easter...#BecauseofHim <--- ringing any
bells? For those of you on Facebook, hopefully you checked out the
link I posted :) As awesome as Easter is, the things we focus on are
things we should ALWAYS focus on. Christ and His Atonement should be
just as important today as it was yesterday, or any other day. With
that being said, I'm immensely grateful for my Savior and brother,
Jesus Christ, and that I get to rock His name on my tag everyday.
Love you all so much!
Hermana Mortensen
Mixtas and the face that naturally comes along with eating them.
