June 3rd, 2013 - Mundelein, IL

Hey family!

Hermana DeLeon and I had a lot of tender mercies this week! Up until this point, I had felt like we were just spinning our wheels and nothing was actually happening. But things came together this week, and it was awesome!

I"m pretty sure we did more teaching on Monday and Tuesday, then I do in an average week. That's the truth. We started off with a new investigator, Rebecca. We met her a few weeks ago in Little Mexico, but never was able to get ahold of her. Finally she told us to just come to the hair salon where she works. Yes. We taught her in the employee break area at the salon. No big deal. She told us how she felt sick in the morning and wasn't going to come to work, but that she felt that she really need to be there for some reason- and then she thanked us for "following her there", because she knew that's what she needed. She hasn't been to church in 10years or so, and she only went to the local Catholic church before, because she had to do community service (for some traffic violation) at the church, and kinda just stuck around. Anyway. We've got high hopes for her! We're gonna try and put her on date this week.

Next. We taught Silvia, and two of her children. I know I mentioned them in a letter a few weeks ago. She was taught about a year ago by the elders- but life got crazy, and she stopped? Anyway. She was really open to us this time, and we committed her to baptism for June 29th. She was kinda iffy about it- but she said if she prayed and came to know that it's all true, then of course she'd be baptized. We're metting with her again on Monday.

After these two lessons, we felt like we were on fire...but it was only the beginning! Ha. Elder Francis, he's got one of the 3 areas in our Branch, called while we were leaving Silvia's, and said that he had a referral for us. This man, Antonio Guzman, had called just a little earlier, saying that his whole family are members (they live in Mexico), he wants to change his life, and that he's ready to be baptized. Whaaa?! He had found a really old Book of Mormon that his wife had, and it had the missionaries phone number on the inside. Mini miracle right there. Anyway. After Elder Francis told us all of this, he informed us that the man lives in our area...and is ALLL ours. Ah. Yeah.

We taught him on Tuesday, with Julia Sanchez (she's a 19yr old from the branch...pretty sure I've mentioned her? Love her!) As we sat reallllly closely on his little porch, he busted out his laptop and got his two kids on skype. He wanted them to see him taking the lessons. Tender, right? The son is 19, and is preparing to leave on a mission soon. And one of his other daughters is preparing to be married in the temple. We invited him to be baptized at the end of June- but he said he's not ready to make the commitment THAT soon. Not sure what that means. Pretty sure he works at Hooters, or a similar kind of place, and he said he needs to quit first :/ Woof. Either way. This man is so prepared! It's amazing.

Welp. I"m surprised I was able to write that all out....I'm off to the Cubs game though! Woohoo! CAN'T WAIT!

Love you all so very much though!
